1st annual event BTC Brookings Tuna Classic
Blue Fin and or Albacore only Rules 7/4/08 to 9/7/08

This Tournament is exclusively for the purpose of raising funds to help with Steelhead and Salmon Enhancement projects for Southern Oregon Coastal Rivers.

1) It is the sole responsibility of the participating anglers to know and abide by the tournament's rules. By entering the BTC (Brookings Tuna Classic) they acknowledge such and agree to all rules.
2) All participants must be entered prior to fishing, all launching wil be from and return to the Brookings Oregon Harbor and must possess a valid fishing license at all times. Anglers checked by Oregon authorities who do not have a valid Oregon license will be disqualified from the tournament.
3) All entrants weighing fish must be in line at the Official/scale area, Chetco Outdoors with the official deadline of 6 p.m. each evening for weighing fish, if you are not in line by 6:00 P.M. no fish will be accepted.The official scale will open at the Chetco Outdoor Store at 6:30 a.m. weekdays and Saturday and 7:00 a.m on Sunday's.
4) Any boat deemed operating in an unsafe manner will be disqualified from that day's fishing and all fish taken on that day will be disqualified. No fishing boundaries, except if fishing within California Waters it will be all anglers' responsibility to obtain a Fishing License.
5) There is no restriction on tackle other than the fish must be taken on hook and line using rod and reel or hand lines, All fish must be weighed within 24 hours of catch; those fish questionable will be subjected to a biologist's inspection.
6) One Tuna per day per angler may be weighed in, It is the responsibility of that person to decide which fish to weigh prior to entering the weigh area.
7) This is the largest Tuna by weight decides the winner of the tournament and its places. We suggest that all Tuna be bled and Iced to ensure the quality of the fish for table fare. Note in the event of a tie the two largest tuna will be decided by total length measured in inches from nose tip to the shortest area in the tail fork.
8) All boats must have a VHF radio; we strongly encourage a cell phone and CB radio.
9) If a protest or questions arise regarding a winners fish a polygraph will be used as one of, but not the sole, determining factor in any decision by the tournament directors. Any angler who declines to submit to a polygraph, this person and or boat members will be automatically disqualified from the tournament and from receiving any monetary awards.
10) All decisions by the tournament directors and advisory board are final
11) All verbal protests and supporting evidence must be presented to the tournament directors immediately upon returning to Brookings, followed by a written protest no more than 30 minutes after the verbal protest. Said evidence will be ruled on by both tournament directors prior to the next day's events. Any verbal or physical abuse or threats from entrants toward Jackpot staff is cause for a team's disqualification.
13) Members of the Association Northwest steelheaders and Tournament board reserves the right to deny any individual/s entry for cause. Also note that the above rules are subject to change prior to the event.
14) Anglers which weigh in fish cannot continue to fish that same day.
15) All fish being weighed must also have the accompanying boat name or hull registration and name or names of those fishing with you /witnesses.

(All minors under the age of 18 years old must be accompanied by a Parents/ Guardian/s at all times while fishing the tournament, this means on the same boat)
All entrants must abide by all State of Oregon Laws and possess a current Oregon state fishing license; All fish are to be taken by legal fishing methods
Any person accompanying a paying participant must be entered in the derby or those will be disqualified.
Tuna only wins this tournament.
All water craft must comply with Coast Guard standards of equipment and safety.
Failure to comply with any of the above said rules will result in entrant's disqualification. Tournament officials All questionable fish will be subject to inspection.
No commercial licensed fisherman can enter, unless fishing on another non commercial vessel entered, all entering will be reviewed.
To be eligible anglers must read and sign the following, I agree to abide by all Official Rules and Regulations of the BTC Tournament, I the undersigned understand that fishing presents hazards at anytime weather, faulty equipment and poor seamanship. As a condition of entering the BTC, Brookings Tuna Classic I the undersigned participant hereby release and agree to waive any and all liability and responsibility to the participant/s or his/her heirs, executors, personal representatives, and representatives for loss, damage or injury suffered during the course of or arising out of participation in the BTC Brookings Tuna Classic whether or not arising out of negligence on behalf of myself or the part of any and/or all sponsor BTC Brookings Tuna Classic organizers, volunteers Northwest Steelheaders and it's Brookings Chapter Members. .Any breach of the Tournament rules automatically disqualifies participant/s and agree to pay all legal fee's as a result of breach of this entry form and sponsors of the BTC Brookings Tuna Classic.
